Book of Abstracts

BOOK OF ABSTRACTS NOW AVAILABLE

Dear IAVS members,
The war in Ukraine also affects us, the creators of the IAVS Bulletin. Anna Kuzemko, who traditionally designs our  newspapers, is currently in surrounded Kiev fighting for the freedom of her country. Therefore, the bulletin comes out late.
The final editing was done without Anna, so please accept our apologies for any errors and for the less elaborate formatting.
Due to the war, several of the events we planned will not take place – the 17th EDGG field workshop in the Kherson-Poltava region in Ukraine, as well as the post-symposium excursion to the Altai Mountains in Russia.
We would like to express our solidarity with the Ukrainian people in this way as well. We very much hope that the conflict will end peacefully soon.
We have little possibility of providing concrete support to help Ukraine defend itself against this invasion, but we encourage our members to support the numerous charities that are collecting funds to help humanitarian causes and  offering a safe place to students and scientists (http://scienceforukraine.eu).

Hybrid Symposium

The new Hybrid format of IAVS2022 considers the dynamic global situation and provides a convenient option of participating online as well, for those who might not be able to take the trip. No matter which option you choose, get ready for an immersive congress experience with a high scientific impact in the vegetation science community.

Madrid hosts the 64th Annual Symposium of International Association for Vegetation Science on June 27th – July 1st, 2022

On behalf of the IAVS Madrid 2022 Organizing Committee we would like to encourage you to participate in this meeting of our Association.

Once again, we are facing uncertainty around travel and large gatherings, due to the latest developments around COVID-19.

We have been considering how to proceed, and listening to your wants, needs and worries. We got a lot of requests to keep IAVS 2022 a face-to-face meeting, and we did our utmost to respect your wishes.

We want to make the Annual Symposium as safe as possible. Vaccination rates in Spain are high, and Spain is welcoming of large international conferences. These factors have played a part in our decision.

We are all excited to have the opportunity to travel to an international in-person event again, and we look forward to seeing most of you in Madrid.

However, the new Hybrid format of IAVS2022 considers the dynamic global situation and provides a convenient option of participating online as well, for those who might not be able to take the trip. No matter which option you choose, get ready for an immersive congress experience with a high scientific impact in the vegetation science community.

This congress in addition to giving us the opportunity to listen to experts in the different areas of research, assistance and education in the vegetation sciences will allow us to share experiences, update knowledge, establish new projects and why not, also enjoy the cosmopolitan environment from the city.

I am sure that the excellent communication with all destinations, the cultural and leisure attraction that we enjoy in Madrid, its hotels, its historical corners and an excellent restoration will be an important claim for all those interested in the world of vegetation science.

We are waiting for you in Madrid.
